iHealth and AHA

iHealth is participating in several collaborative efforts with the American Heart Association to support their goal to improve cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20% and reduce deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20%.

In the past year, iHealth has conducted several Walking Challenges at AHA conferences including the first at the 2013 Scientific Sessions conference in Dallas. At that event, 2,000 physician and healthcare professionals were provided iHealth’s Wireless Activity and Sleep Tracker to automatically track their steps during the four-day conference. During the two and a half day challenge, physicians and researchers took a cumulative 10.7 million steps (equivalent to walking approximately 4,500 miles). The top individual stepper took over 68,000 steps.

iHealth and Check, Change, Control

iHealth’s platform is currently powering a pilot of the AHA’s Check. Change. Control.™ program at five community locations in California and Texas. We are currently working on expanding the program to more communities in the near future. This program is based on several clinical research studies including a Community-based Hypertension Management Program conducted with Duke and the Durham Health Innovations group and the Secondary Prevention Risk Interventions Via Telemedicine and Tailored Patient Education (SPRITE) Trial.

The pilot features a kiosk version of iHealth’s mobile blood pressure monitor integrated with a custom version of iHealth’s mobile app and cloud solutions to support the participant’s efforts to improve their cardiovascular risk factors.  Through the platform’s cloud interface, AHA volunteers are also provided tools to view a participants’ data online to provide support and advice either in person or remotely.
