We’re thrilled to announce the release of a new PSA campaign to address the alarming rates of uncontrolled high blood pressure (HBP) in America, developed in partnership with the American Heart Association, American Medical Association and the Ad Council. Roughly 85 million Americans have high blood pressure, but only half of those individuals currently have their condition under control. High blood pressure can lead to heart attack, stroke, heart failure and many other devastating health consequences. The new PSAs were released yesterday to run as available in donated media space/time.
The new campaign motivates people to talk with their doctor to recommit to a treatment plan by raising awareness of the consequences of uncontrolled HBP. While most people know their blood pressure numbers, many don’t follow their HBP treatment plan because they feel fine, don’t notice immediate symptoms, and have trouble following their current diet, exercise or medication plan. The campaign, featuring real survivors of heart attack and stroke, underscores the urgency of managing HBP – by relating blood pressure numbers to the real effects of high blood pressure. PSAs were developed pro bono by ad agency Havas Adrenaline and are available in English and Spanish across all media types.
The solution is clear – get back on your plan, or discuss your barriers with your doctor and evolve your treatment plan to one that you can follow. Viewers are encouraged to visit www.LowerYourHBP.org or www.BajeSuPresion.org to learn more about how to approach a treatment plan and talk to their doctor.
So how can you help spread this important message? We’d encourage you to do the following:
- Promote LowerYourHBP.org and www.BajeSuPresion.org to share important resources and tools.
- Visit the campaign Toolkit for ways you can support the campaign.
Through this new campaign and your support, there’s no doubt we can make major strides against the growing impact of high blood pressure in our country – and drive positive changes to create a healthier population in all walks of life. Thank you in advance for your support.
